This year, New Year's Eve falls on a Sunday, which adds an interesting twist to the celebrations. Many people are likely eager to break away from their homes and families after the Christmas festivities, ready to unwind and enjoy themselves without the looming burden of work the next day.

There's a plethora of options on Saturday the 30th, featuring numerous music and dance events around the city. However, we've conducted some research and compiled a list of the best venues for Sunday, 31st December 2023, in Belfast.

  1. Bullit Hotel – Soul Food: Let the dance floor come alive with tunes that will make you want to get up and boogie in Bullit Hotel's Studio 54-inspired New York setting.

  2. Cabaret Club - Glitter Ball: Experience an eclectic mix of performances, from tantalising burlesque and extravagant drag to live musicians and incredible singers. For £85, enjoy a three-course meal and a show that's sure to have you laughing, dancing, and singing along.

  3. Banana Bock – East Belfast: This old banana warehouse is an excellent venue for DJs. Ava Electronic Music Festival presents IMNOTYOURMATE & Kessler, with support from Hannah McConkey.

  4. Berts Jazz Bar: For a more relaxed vibe, enjoy a jazz set on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm. Delight in dinner and cocktails, chasing away the January blues in the plush lounge.

  5. Ulster Sports Club: The Night Institute, Marion Hawkes, and Ponyhawke play 5-hour sets in two rooms of this former working men's club, now well-known for live music and top DJ sets. This is a late one, finishing at 3 am.

  6. Crumlin road jail - Governor Ball: A meal and music and dancing with a 5 piece live band takes place in a Victorian Era prison. Enjoy music from swinging sixties through to current hits to have you bringing 2024 in with plenty of fun and laughter
